Belgrade



Belgrade is the capital of Serbia. It lays on the mouth of Sava and Danube. It has a population of over three million. Belgrade is the city with a very interesting history. It was formed by the Celts in the third century BC, and it was called Singidunum then. During the course of time, it changed its name in Belgrade (White City). Officially, Belgrade became Serbian capital in 1403.
Today, Belgrade has 17 municipalities: Barajevo, Voždovac, Vračar, Grocka, Zvezdara, Zemun, Lazarevac, Mladenovac, Novi Beograd, Obrenovac, Palilula, Rakovica, Savski venac, Sopot, Stari grad, Surčin and Čukarica.
It is the city of business, economics, culture and education.
If you come to Belgrade, you must try and to visit a few festivals, like BITEF, BELEF, BEMUS. You should also visit Avala, Narodno pozorište (National theatre), Kalemegdan, Nacionalna biblioteka (National Library). Belgrade is a beautiful and big city, with lots of opportunities.
Belgrade has a continental climate, with average temperature of 5 degrees Centigrade in winter, and 24 degrees in summer.
It is easy to travel between Belgrade and the rest of Serbia. There are regular international flights too.
Belgrade is worth seeing...
